Addressing Bias in Mental Health for People Living with Disabilities and Chronic Illness

Event Description:

In this course, mental health professionals will learn to identify and reduce the impact of implicit bias in the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning for clients with visible or invisible disabilities, including chronic illness.

Learning Objectives:

After attending this continuing education opportunity, participants will be able to:

​​​​

  • By the end of this 2-hour training, participants will accurately identify at least three specific ways provider bias can impact the assessment and diagnosis of individuals with visible or invisible disabilities.

  • By the end of the training, participants will identify at least two bias-reduction strategies they will apply in their clinical work.​​

​​​

CEUs: This program has been approved for 2.5 CEUs for Licensed Social Workers, Mental Health Counselors, and Marriage and Family Therapists by the Washington State Society for Clinical Social Workers.

​

This program will meet the Health Equity Continuing Education requirement for healthcare providers in the state of WA.

​​

$100 - Psychologists (PhDs)

$90 - Licensed Independent Clinical Social Workers (LICSWs), Marriage and Family Therapists (LMFTs), Licensed Mental Health Counselors (LMHCs) *also includes associate level clinicians
